I'll admit, I can be tough to shop with. But it's probably not why you think...🔎I love to take my time walking through the aisles. Sometimes, I can't help but be a bit shocked at some of the flexible packaging I'm seeing. It's a mix of disbelief and concern. Some packaging seems lazy, almost as if quality took a backseat.This begs the question: Does it even protect the product effectively? And what kind of facility is this being produced in? Does anyone else notice this?Let's discuss some common quality issues I've noticed on pouches specifically:1️⃣ Seal Integrity Issues: A compromised seal can lead to product contamination or leakage, reducing shelf life and consumer trust.2️⃣ Inconsistent Material Thickness: This can affect the strength and durability of the packaging, potentially leading to tears or punctures.3️⃣ Poor Print Quality: Fading, smudging, or inaccurate colors not only affect brand perception but can also lead to miscommunication of product information.4️⃣ Misaligned Closures: Zip locks or spouts that don’t align properly can make the package difficult to use and compromise the product’s integrity.5️⃣ Lack of Barrier Protection: Inadequate barrier properties can result in moisture, air, or light affecting the product’s quality. I can just feel it sometimes!As industry professionals, we have a responsibility to uphold standards. When we met Brad Porter initially, one of the things that struck us was how differently he was building a company in the robotics space. Brad was laser focused on getting product in the hands of customers - quickly! Today they announce that their first robots are live in a production setting. Lightweight Composites - Integrated Thermoplastic Process with MinimalThe Engel organomelt process shapes and functionalizes thermoplastic fiber composite semi-finished products, such as organic sheet and UD tapes, in a single integrated process step. Immediately after molding, thermoplastic plastics from the organic sheet matrix material group are injected into the same mold for reinforcement or assembly components. This process not only achieves highly efficient, fully automated production but also contributes to the circular economy. The consistent thermoplastic single-material approach simplifies the subsequent recycling of components. The Engel victory 660/160 injection molding machine, equipped with the Engel easix articulated robot, automates the production of inspection flaps for aircraft fuselages. The production unit also includes an infrared oven, developed and manufactured by Engel. The organic sheets are heated in the infrared oven, placed in the mold by a robot arm, molded in the mold, and then immediately overmolded.
