Great Magic Weapon is a Sorcery in Dark Souls 3. To cast a Sorcery you must use a Staff or Special Weapons that can cast Sorceries.

"Sorcery which improves upon Magic Weapon. Greatly reinforces right weapon with magic.
Only sorcerer-swordsmen with special duties are permitted use of this spell. The azure blade is said to cut down heavily armored knights with ease.
Acquired From
- Found in: Road of Sacrifices near the shortcut door to Farron Keep: From the Farron Keep Perimeter bonfire, turn around 180 and head towards the shortcut gate to Road of Sacrifices. The spell will be on a corpse at the gatenearthe Ravenous Crystal Lizard.

Notes
- Adds (Spell Buff * 0.85) in Magic damage to the weapon attack rating.
- Damage is applied each time the enemy is hit with the weapon, regardless of the damage of the attack performed.
- The buff can be easily identified by its deep blue glow.
- The damage bonus is affected by the Magic Clutch Ring(+15% in PvE, +8% in PvP) and Crown of Dusk(10%).
- Lasts 60 seconds, and can be lengthened by the Lingering Dragoncrest Ring.
- Young Dragon Ring and Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring do not modify weapon buff spells.
- A few weapons and weapon arts have hidden multipliers that slightly lower the buff's damage per hit.
- Namely, Daggers and Twinblades display this adjustment.
- Regardless, the buffs always remain efficient.
- This spell is an upgrade to Magic Weapon, and has an upgrade in Crystal Magic Weapon

It's a shame that this spell becomes forgotte once you get crystal magic weapon. If they added unique properties to these spells (damage over time, movement slowdown, etc...), they would be more useful.

I can't use it on my Irithyl Straight Sword for some reason, even though I put my staff in Left hand it doesn't seem to be castable… I have the required Int and FP, anyone knows why I can't cast it?

I remember back in DS1, GMW + Oolacile Ivory added 198 *****ing damage for only 15 int. It was my favorite low-investment buff setup, especially when paired with power within. Fast forward to DS3 where you basically have to dump huge amounts of points into int just to match that damage even with CMW. Just to pour salt on the wound, they nerfed power within to the ground. Rip, my blue friend

i dont get it: My crystal chime has 151 as final spell buff.
I still get just 106 bonus damage, not 85*151/100=128.
I hsvr 19 INT and 20 FAiTH so all requirements are met.

Both Great Magic weapon and Darkmoon blade buff adds Magic damage to your weapon, however GMW cost 35fp per use and only requires 15 int in comparison to 30 fth and 50fp cost. Hmmm....

So what determines or tells whether a weapon has sorcery capabilities, I've got the Uchigatana but it does not work with said blade. Not sure if there is a sign in game to tell me whether a sword can be reinforced with magic.

This item is not located in farron keep, it is located at "Farron keep perimeter" had this been written it would have saved me a lot of time. Simply spawn at farron keep, turn around and run forward until you find it (skeleton leaning against a wall), and then u can open the door for a shortcut to the swampy area where enemies hold giant logs (so big it looks like an entire tree lol)

I have a bunch of weapons with different infusions so I tried to see what I could enhance. from what I found ONLY non elemental infusioned weapons could be buffed. I have a magic, holy, fire, dark and two boss weapons from the kiln. only my non infused weapons and the weapon I swapped from magic to raw were able to be infused. can't test with refined or heavy since I don't have those gems.

Can we get a list of gem infusions this works with? I know a couple myself . Works with: raw, shiving. Does not work with: fire, Crystal.
