💡 Last week, I had the privilege of sharing my learnings from over 1,000 CareerFairy live streams on how to engage Gen Z in online career events. Here are the top 3 takeaways:❓ 1. Take the time to answer as many questions as possible: The best-rated live streams spend nearly half of their time answering questions from the audience. This makes Gen Z feel heard and engaged. Speakers should allocate enough time to Q&As, and the upside is that they have to prepare content ;-)🙋♂️ 2. Have a Gen Z speaker in the live stream: Gen Z appreciates getting insights from peers. For example, popular live streams include Gen Z speakers who share their transitioning experience from university to their trainee program at their respective company.🔧 3. Share practical knowledge: Hands-on knowledge, like an Excel power user workshop or a pen testing demo, adds value to the career preparation of the viewers and is thus well-received. On the flip side, content that only repackagesinformation that the students can find on your career page gets poor feedback because they don’t learn something new.Bonus tip: Always be authentic and don’t prepare too much (it can make your answers sound a bit robotic 🤖 ).What are your best practices for keeping Gen Z engaged in online events? I am curious to learn from your experience! Special thanks to the organizers of the HR FESTIVAL europe for setting up this event and for the opportunity to share our learnings!Thank you Bruno Flütsch for all the awesome work setting up the event 💪 #GenZ #OnlineEvents #Authenticity

I am so excited to announce our next product at CareerFairy 🎉 After bringing our career live streams to students and graduates around Europe, and creating thousands of authentic connections between Gen Z talent and their future colleagues, we are going a (massive) step further. We are introducing "My Blind Career", a fantastic new vision for the recruiting process where you'll be matched to a company on CareerFairy WITHOUT knowing its name, its location, the sector it operates in or even what the role is that you will be filling. Thank you to our beta testers Roger Federer and Implenia for such a successful blind match! We can't wait to see what you will build together. 🎾 🏗 Roger Federer Foundation#careerdevelopment #nextgeneration #toogoodtobetrue

It looks like the reality is starting to sink in:If Gen Z find the right workplace to develop and thrive, they will deeply and positively transform their organisation. If not, they will leave quickly. No remorse. They now have the burden of choice when it comes to choosing the right place to start their career. We need to help them make better decision. For our sake. #genz #warfortalenthttps://lnkd.in/d4rb9ReD

You still have apprehensions about #remote teams?I had them too, until CareerFairy didn't have a choice. As a startup with limited resources and a lot of very demanding positions to fill, we had to look beyond our borders for talent and...we found it.Now my day starts with checking in with a number of remote colleagues in 🇵🇹 🇬🇷 🇳🇱 🇩🇪 🇪🇸 who are all pushing to help European graduates figure out where they are meant to start their career. The resulting productivity, creativity and spirit of our diverse team have truly blown my mind 😱 .You should try it too. Soon, you might be forced to...Any story to share about your remote team? #talent #career #productivity

What to expect if you employ a Gen Z-er? Summing the 5 major lessons I’m taking away from 2022As the year draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this past year. Being a digital, real-time, interactive platform focused on recruiting Next-Gen talent, we help companies recruit GenZ through our live streams. It has been 3 years now. Wow! However, this year has been especially enlightening, as it was the first time we hired GenZ’s at CareerFairy! I have gained some valuable insights on their impact on our workplace , and I would like to share them with you.Lesson 1: Culture & team matter more than everOur GenZ hires want a strong company culture, and they create it without needing to be incentivised. The professional environment is an essential part of their life, and they need to feel comfortable with colleagues, both in and outside the office. Give them space and opportunity to shape the culture, and they will run with it and help improve the workplace. Whether it be initiatives for social events, team-driven retrospectives or setting up innovative communication channels (check out our podcast), our GenZ team members have been at the heart of the changes that our company culture has gone through.Lessons 2: Hybrid winsSince our GenZ team members entered the workforce during or right after Covid, they have no experience with full on-site work environments. Having studied in home office settings, they do appreciate the benefits of avoiding (some) commuting, if it suits their role. Combining this with their need to build solid relationships at the office, it’s seems clear that a hybrid work environment, where employees have the freedom to establish their best balance, works best.Lessons 3: Be ready to negotiateI was taken aback by GenZ’s negotiation skills and their level of awareness and confidence when justifying their salary expectations. Kudos. I also felt that being open to negotiation was regarded very highly. So, be prepared!Lessons 4: A little mentorship goes a long wayOne thing I noted, was that GenZs like to be mentored quite intensely in the early stages of their employment. This comes mainly from their desire to do their job right from the word go, as well as, to be honest, from the fact that we would put them in charge of tricky tasks with high levels of responsibility early on in their time with us. On the other hand they are very independent and don’t shy away from tasks that require creative approach. Combination of challenge and mentorship createLessons 5: Gen Z are smarter than youThere it is. I said it! Use this fact to your advantage and you will thrive. If not, you will become irrelevant. Choose wisely. These lessons already apply before GenZ talent joins your company - from the hiring process all the way up the funnel, to the subjects you choose to talk about in your live streams on CareerFairy ;).What would you add to my list of particularly Gen Z behaviour?
